Policies + Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are unable to make your appointment, it is required that you give notice to the therapist at least 24 hours in advance so that they may reschedule that time for another client. You will be charged half the price of the treatment for less than 24 hours notice, and full-price of the treatment for a "no-show". This will be charged to the card on file used to book your appointment. If we are unable to charge the card, the cost of the "late-notice" or "no-show" fee will be due before or at the time of the next service with no further services being rendered until payment is received. If you are using a gift certificate or Groupon, your voucher will be redeemed in the event of either a late-cancellation or no-show. If the voucher is unable to be redeemed, the above conditions will apply. Exceptions will be made for emergency situations only and at the therapist's discretion.

Please note that if you have multiple instances of emergency medical or familial reasons for late-canceling or missing your appointment and ask for the fee to be waived, we may flag your account from booking in the future. We understand that emergencies happen, but if it becomes a regular occurrence we reserve the right to refuse service indefinitely or until a fee is paid.

  • No, as of 9/22/23 we are no longer offering extensions on expired packages or gift cards. In rare and extreme circumstances such as hospitalization, human death in the immediate family, etc., exceptions may be made, but only on a case-by-case basis and at the therapist’s discretion.

For expired Groupon vouchers, as per stated in the Groupon agreement, the price paid for the voucher is always valid and can be put toward the full and current price of that treatment, though applicable taxes will apply. For expired Groupon vouchers to be redeemed in this way you MUST have the barcode to scan. We will NOT accept expired vouchers as stated above without the barcode.

  • We do NOT offer refunds for late-cancel or no-show fees. If there is valid reason to have the fee waived, it must be communicated to the therapist within a reasonable timeframe (i.e. several days from the incident). If we were able to charge the fee to a card on file and you give good reason for the fee to be waived, we will not refund the amount, but we will put it toward the price of a future service. Again, this is at the therapist’s discretion on a case-by-case basis and we do not guarantee that we will waive or credit the fee to a future service should you give reason within several days of the incident.

We understand that emergencies happen and will be as accommodating for such situations as possible. However, we cannot waive or refund Late-Cancel/No-Show fees weeks or months after the missed appointment. Please understand that this is to keep things running smoothly for both clients and therapist so that we may offer you all the highest quality service possible. If you have any questions or issues with our policy, please email lmooore@synaestheticbodywork.com and we will be happy to help you further.

  • Vibroacoustic therapy is a safe, drug-free, non-invasive approach to reducing pain and anxiety and improving quality of life. This relaxing, stress-reducing modality uses sound applied as vibration directly to the body, and can be utilized for a variety of conditions. Whether it is utilized for stress and pain reduction or to help alleviate a serious medical condition, vibroacoustic therapy is a powerful modality that stimulates the relaxation response which helps healing to take place.

  • VAT is based on the principle that all matter, including the human body, vibrates all the time, at various frequencies. Sound and music also vary in frequency; when the various frequencies of sound and/or music are converted to vibration which is introduced to the human body, it can be utilized to bring the body into a state of healthy resonance.

Our bodies are composed mainly of water and all of this water is set into motion when the body is exposed to these sound vibrations. As this water is moved by the vibration, its molecules are reacting and communicating with each other. As this communication occurs, harmony and a healthy resonance are restored in the body. In order for the body to receive and be able to understand and respond to the vibrations, specific frequencies are used to obtain a specific effect. This is pure vibroacoustic therapy, or VAT, and it is conducted by a trained therapist.

Vibroacoustics can also be utilized with music (VAM). Here frequencies are laid under music which is composed to complement the frequencies. While this is the most popular form of vibroacoustics for the general public, and is often used for stress reduction, relaxation and meditation, it can also be utilized in therapeutic situations the including for Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s patients and for children with ADHD. It is very popular with people recovering from surgeries or undergoing cancer treatments.

  • VAT has an immediate and pleasurable effect, but some effects can appear several hours, often days, after the therapy session. Repeated therapy sessions will increase the cumulative effect of the therapy series.

  • Over 40 years of research have shown VAT to be effective in stimulating blood circulation and reducing blood pressure, improving range of motion, decreasing pain and anxiety, reducing nausea, headache, fatigue and depression, reducing hyperactivity, changing viscosity of phlegm in lungs, reducing stress-hormone levels, and even reducing tremors and improving gait in those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.

  • More than 40,000 hours of therapy have been provided to patients in Europe and the United States. There is not a single report of risk or mishap. No significant adverse effects have been found. However, some patients may experience nausea during the first couple of sessions.

  • Active or borderline psychosis

Open wounds, external or internal bleeding

    Recent thrombosis

    *Pregnancy

*While recent studies have shown VAT to be perfectly safe, if not beneficial during pregnancy, always consult with your licensed medical professional before beginning any new treatment.

  • As the famous scientist Nikola Tesla said “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Everything, including you, has a natural frequency. We live in a world where we are bombarded by myriad frequencies, which can throw us out of sync with our own energetic rhythms. Research recommends limiting our time in front of screens, keeping phones away from the bed, and taking breaks away from electronics as a way to mitigate the effect our technological world has on our natural bioenergetics. However, living in a world so full of so many competing frequencies, stepping outside may not be enough. Synaesthetic Bodywork offers services and tools to disrupt energetic blockages in the body and to reset the energetic flow to your natural vibrant state.

Energy Work is a name for a very wide variety of non-physical (i.e. not manipulating the physical tissues of the body through massage) modalities, some dating back thousands of years. Traditional Chinese Medicine, the philosphical framework for accupuncture/accupressure, Chinese herbal medicine and Medical Qi Gong, take a holistic approach to healthcare. Herbs are often used to treat imbalances within the body, and while there may be a dispute as to the diagnostic standards (Liver Qi Stagnation may not seem a legitimate diagnosis to some), the chemical compounds of the herbs used to treat the condition are recognized and have a measurable effect. And while the effects of some work such as accupuncture may be hard to quantify or measure by Western scientific standards, more and more doctors are recommending the practice to their patients as they are seeing noticeable results. If the practices and efficacy of energy work seem far-fetched to you, then perhaps consider them to be a placebo: a harmless tool to help the mind heal the body itself.
